TODAY, attorney Ranelle M. Meroney of our
firm obtained a major defense verdict for a
homebuilder in a suit brought by a seriously injured employee of a framing
subcontractor. The plaintiff sustained a tragic quadriplegia paralysis due
to a fall from the second story of a house
under construction. He alleged the
homebuilder was negligent in failing to provide fall protection. Ranelle
earlier moved for summary judgment on behalf of the homebuilder, but the motion
was denied and sent to a full jury trial beginning last week in Austin,
The plaintiff’s attorney, a nationally
known and respected construction law specialist, presented an expert’s life care
plan to the jury that the plaintiff would require over 10 million dollars in
care and medical attention for the remainder of his life. After 6 days of trial and a half day of
deliberations, the jury returned a complete defense verdict for our client.
